Feelin like spring!

Hey everyone! This week was a great week. saw many tender mercies of the Lord for sure. Sometimes i don't know how we carry on but then i remember, oh wait. Only with the Lord's help could we do what we do!!!
Green Bay is so busy, the busiest of all my areas and as such we have appointments back to back. A cople days we missed out on essentials like studies, or eating lunch, weekly planning. Thankfully Heavenly Father's in charge and a couple appointments fell through so we were able to do most of everything!!
So, baptismal interviews was a little stressful with timing but we were able to hang out at the church from 9 to 330 with interviews and all our lessons came to us at the church!!! Best thing ever having a line of appts and not having to move :)
So..... Victoria, Jorge, and Chris all passed their baptismal interviews!!!
Victoria and Jorge will be Friday
Chris on Saturday.
It's going to be a white Christmas!!!
We had an appointment with some legit people. Sister Kealer met them last week tracting on exchanges and we taught them the restoration on tuesday. The mom and the daughter both accepted to be baptized as they come to know this is true. And the son will hopefully join us next time! Yay, a family!!!
That's about it for this week!
Have a merry Week before Christmas!!!
Love, Sister Roylance

Re: Hello everyone!

This week was the craziest week of my mission. No lie!!! Literally we are so busy that we struggle to fit everything in. It didn't help that w
e had 10 hours driving total for exchanges with marquette and a meeting 1 1/2 hours away in oshkosh. But....all is well! Things are fabulous!!!

I got to go back to Marquette for one day on exchanges. Miracle for sure! But we were able to reconnect with Patricia one of my favorite people and get her back on track!!! Turns out after our visit, she showed up to the church on sunday and told sister Hancock she wants to be baptized before she leaves.
Got to see Peggy too!!! Shout out to her. I love her lots and she is so strong in her testimony. It's amazing to see the love she has for the Savior.

Funny story! So as Sister Kealer was driving back to meet us at the end of the exchange, they hit a bird. Repeat they hit a bird. Doesn't sound like anything at all until you know that it was a large bird, perhaps a wild turkey, and it put a good sized hole in our front netting of our car. Had to fill out an accident report and everything :) haha. The one day I leave the car.........

In Green Bay, Victoria and Jorge are continuing to do very well. We had a change up with our lesson. It ended up being in the Taylor's home! Jorge was one or two lessons behind and so this lesson was for him. But they're doing great having fellowshippers and putting the gospel into their lives. They will be baptized on the 19th of December.

Chris is also doing very well. We taught the Law of Chastity with the emphasis on eternal marriage and families. Prior to this lesson, him and his member girlfriend were a bit nervous just because it could be a really awkward lesson even though they're not breaking the LOC. So in preparation, they read Law of Chastity in true to the faith. Yupp. They're awesome!  It turned out to be his favorite lesson and he practically bore his testimony on families and the gospel. He will be baptized on the 20th of December. It's going to be a white Christmas!!!
It's amazing to see the greatest joy is seeing Heavenly Father's love for His children. That we are working as a mission to bring his children back to the fold. Oh how he wants this!!

Mission Leadership conference was a great experience. President and Sister Cutler did a training on the teachings restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. It was amazing the many many things! Every doctrine in the BOM, d&c, PofGP, and JST in fact!!! The spirit was so strong and I'm excited to see the many miracles this month as we unite as a mission. Heavenly Father is definitely blessing us every day!
Volunteered at Polar Express. It's like live polar express from the movie. So fun! I got to usher and pass out hot chocolate. And of course see all the trains!

Oh! I don't think I shared with you this picture of my favoritest person Marie!!! She was baptized November 15th and was my investigator in kettle Moraine. Love her! Hope you'll all have the pleasure of meeting her one day. One of the most inspirational humans I've met.
love ya'll

Re: Hello all :)

Sorry about the short message. Carrying on.
The week was full of miracles. Got some great new investigators! We have this new survey approach that is like a 90% guarantee we get in the house and have a sit down lesson. Takes some boldness but it's working miracles.
Our investigators are doing pretty well. Chris is pretty legit. He's dating a member and so therefore knows all the commandments already and is living them. So instead of going out to the bars to drink he asks for gatorade! He is super excited to be baptized on the 20th
Victoria and Jorge are great too! Victoria had this amazing experience that I sadly wasn't there for (I was on exchanges in manitowoc) but i shall tell you anyways because I've heard the story 10 times. So victoria had a dream. and when people tell you they had a dream, we're like "oh no. what now" But she said "I had a dream and I don't remember the dream but when I woke up I felt soooo happy. Then I just heard this voice saying 'The book of mormon is true. It's true!' " So..... she's pretty solid. Already lives the word of wisdom and all. She and her son are getting baptized on the 19th and in church she relates experiences "When I'm baptized......" We think she's excited :)
This is a crazy experience. Last night the 6 of us missionaries are invited over to the Johnson's home. We're just going along talking and he relates that he's from North Ogden. Oh! Then 5 minutes later I ask "Are you related to a Jared?" He replies "Yeah, do you know him?" and then of course I tell him Jared's my uncle!!!! So it turns out the world is super small and I'm serving in uncle Jared's brother's family's ward. They're such a cute family and now I'm dubbed second cousin to them. Not sure how the relation actually works but hey!
Hope you all have a great week! I think that's all from me :)
Love ya!

Hello from Green Bay!!!

This week was great. This might be short because I'm lazy but let it be known that Green Bay is amazing! So many people prepared for the gospel.. Less actives and investigators.
We were able to meet with Victoria this week and she and her son Jorge came to church as well. Victoria acts like a member at church fully participating in the lessons. So great!

We met with a less active Trudy last night. We shared the Sabbath day with her and it was exactly what she needed. She shared that it has been really bothering her that she hasn't come to church because she loves the Lord and it is His day. So she decided she would ask her boss for Sundays off for church. She is definitely making steps back to Him!

We finally got to see Cedric (inv) and Jemina (la) last night as well. It was good to reestablish contact with him and it turns out they have been reading the Book of Mormon daily! That was such great news and he has also committed to ask his boss for Sundays off to go to church. He is so prepared.

Chris is doing well as well. Continuing to progress. He is also asking his boss for Sunday off for church. Was a theme this week. And he's living the Word of Wisdom and we haven't even taught that yet! And of course he's living law of chastity because his member girlfriend is awesome! Good to be over those hurdles!
I am blessed to drive here. it feels nice again! Grateful to be a Utah resident compared to my Arizona companion :) But Sister Kealer is awesome! And I've realized Sister Harris' shoes are very big shoes to fill. everyone loved her!
Love you all :)

Feel like I just got here!

Well, by the subject of my email today you can tell somethin's changed. Almost 3 months ago I came to Marquette and I'm sad to leave. I'm off to Green Bay Wisconsin! Green Bay is pretty cool. Quote from Sister Harris, "the promised land". And I have been on 2 exchanges there so it'll be cool to serve there. Sister Kealer will be my new companion! Which she was my comp for a day like 3 days ago so she's cool and I like her :)
-Note: Don't send mail to Marquette anymore. Address for Green Bay pending. Otherwise, just send it to
7111 W. Edgerton Ave. Suite 100

Greenfield, WI 53220
Thanks!
Most exciting news first! My most favoritest investigator Marie from Kettle Moraine got baptized on Saturday!!! President Cutler called me Wednesday to set up a time I could talk with her and I was oh so pleased! She'll definitely be present at my wedding so you'll all get to meet her! *picture next week? Sister Kilger should be sending it today!

This week we had a lesson with Liz (inv) and her mom. Aubrey, the member friend, also came and the spirit was really strong there. Aubrey was able to share her testimony and why she wanted Liz to learn. Liz's mom is good with Liz reading the Book of Mormon, coming to seminary and activities, and church. I think her mom will also come investigate soon enough. Such a good family!

We did exchanges on Thursday. I learned so much from Sister Kealer in Green Bay. She is so dilligent and bold and not afraid to talk to anybody. I'm excited to continue to learn from her as my companion.

Saturday at volleyball, it was intense. A less active couple we've been working with, the Kellers. They came! They were also really good so we made a team of us Sisters, the Kellers, and Caroline against the Elders and others. The Kellers upped the stakes when they said if we win we get Chophouse, meaning steak!!!! That sure motivated us and after such a good game, we sadly lost by 2 points.

Jasmine, our investigator, came to church and liked it! We weren't so sure she did last time but during gospel principles we were introducing ourselves and she did as such. "Hi I'm Jasmine, it's my second time here and i'm really liking it.". So we're thrilled with that and excited for her in the future. She's been praying more which is huge and also reading the Book of Mormon.
Forgot to mention the snow in the hustle and bustle. We got about a foot and a half of snow here in Marquette. I guess Negaunee made national news? Crazy! Yupp that's us :)

Winter Wonderland to be!

Just heard the weather forecast. Will be getting a foot of snow tonight and snow every day of the week with a high of 30 degrees. Let's get pumped!
Let's see. Hasn't been the most eventful of weeks with our investigators sadly. That would be because every teaching appointment between Thursday and Saturday cancelled. Gives good light to the phrase, when it rains it pours. Very humbling I tell ya :)
We did however, with our newfound time, meet some cool people so that was good. :)
So, surprise!!!! We moved out of our house. :( Sister Rayhorn was leaving Saturday for two months and we called President to ask about the situation. Church policy says we cannot live with Brother Rayhorn which we figured. So, we moved into the Elders Apartment and the Elders get the Rayhorns!!! First, we didn't want to roll up all our clothes in our luggage so we just took it on hangers. But still we managed to completely fill our luggage!!! That didn't even include clothes....uh oh. So we will be working on downsizing before we get transferred next. Hence, I have too much stuff. :)Pros and Cons to Elders Apartment.
Pros: There really aren't any when you compare it to living with members. But, I will say that I don't really have any complaints about the place besides the following items.Cons:
We gave up our full size beds that were sent from heaven to springy twins.
Apartment smells of self cleaning oven that never goes away.
Laundry costs money.
That's it!
So, as we adjust I'm sure we will really enjoy the place. Kind of cute :) We will live there for one month until Brother Rayhorn joins her.
Yesterday at church, me and Sister Hancock totally got skipped for the water portion of the sacrament. I tried to signal, but the poor deacons didn't understand. So at the end when sacrament was wrapping up, the priests were told and we were brought the sacrament while the congregation waited. A bit embarassing/awkward. But hey! The sacrament is THAT important.
Had a lesson with Patricia this week on Wednesday. Taught the plan of salvation and hellped her see that she is a daughter of God and has such great worth! The Plan was specifically created for His children which includes her. That's what she needs. She needs to feel of worth. That she's cared for. Love her!
Well that's all folks!
Sister Roylance
NOTE: Mail can still be sent to the same Marquette address. Not bothering to switch that. The elders will deliver it to us. No worries :)

Snow. Christmas is coming. Miracles!

Hey everyone! Start that Christmas music. It's coming before you know it!
This week, a lot happened.
Monday night we drove 4 hours to Shawano Wisconsin for Zone conference. We were prepared with Salt and Vinegar pringles and Teddy Grahams for the road. Stayed with the Shawano sisters. My two favorite! Sister Plante (my sister out here. Sister Martin trained both of us!) and Sister Pearson! My second companion! We had a great time reflecting on good ole Stevens Point!
Wednesday was the Ward halloween party. We decided to be clever and be Elders for Halloween! It was kept on the dl and we arrived! We were a bit worried about being chastized by the Elders but they were dressed up too. Men in Black (just add glasses). It was way fun and so many less active members and non members were there!
I will share with you just four of the miracles of the week.
1. We received a referral from our friend Aubrey (14) to go see her friend Liz. Liz has cerebral palsy and is the kindest person ever! We talked with her for 45 minutes and her heart is so warm. She is very open to the gospel. Her parents were so nice and inviting. Her dad let us right in! We will teach Liz on Wednesday with Aubrey. :)
The last three were all yesterday!
2. Teresa and Joe came to church again! (Geniusness of it is they don't have a car yet and we arranged for Sister Ontto who is less active to bring them. She's always happy to help!)
After church teresa asked me how to pay fast offerings. uhhhhh okay! So I showed her how its done. Then later that night she texted "We were just reading in 1 nephi and he keeps saying 'Yea' What does that mean?" Simple question, but they're reading!!!!
3. Patricia. She is our "golden investigator" according to Sister Salani. But she really is amazing and super prepared. Wants the gospel so bad but struggles with feelings of worthiness. We haven't seen her in 2 1/2 weeks because she's been sick but we dropped by yesterday and read with her inthe Book of Mormon and set a time for Wednesday! She also mentioned casually her willingness to keep the law of tithing and fasting/fast offerings. What is it with these investigators that volunteer this willingness when we haven't even taught them that yet? So good!
Well, another small miracle. I taught my self how to frenchbraid. Finally got it down. Makes life so much better. Well, love you all. Hope you had a  great halloween. by the pictures it looks like you did!

Miracles a rollin.

This week in Marquette we had a few miracles. We received a HQ referral for a Teresa who turns out is a member. Hasn't been to church since she was little. Now has tw
o babies and a fiance who is interested as well. We met with them Friday and they came to church yesterday. A family! Perfect lesson on eternal marriage in sunday school.

In sacrament meeting there was a focus on missionary work. Afterwards, the two of the Collins came up to us with different friends we should meet. So that'll be good to meet with them. Sister Collins even said she would pay for one of us to get our hair done to meet her hairdresser! An added testimony of member missionary work. So great.

Peggy was confirmed yesterday a member of the church. It was a bit scary as she called us that morning reporting bad fibromyalgia and she wouldn't make it. However, she pushed through and wasn't going to let Satan win this one. Then the same day she was confirmed she was given a visiting teaching list!

We have a miracle less active to teach now. We've tried to contact Dana many times, but on Wednesday he was magically there! He hasn't been since he was littlle and feels there should be one true church. Although his girlfriend has some strange ideas about our church as she learned on the internet. Didn't fail to bring up Polygamy. Also found that we believe that Jesus came over to the Americas with the Pilgrims. People never cease to surprise me!
Well! I feel like there was something else big I needed to share. Hmmm....
Oh! It had something to do with Our Truck. County road turning into sandy fourwheeler trail. Turning around. Getting stuck. Prayer. Perseverence. Faith. Getting unstuck! Yeah, blame the GPS for taking us that way!
Have a great week! Happy Halloween!

Hello!!!! Freezing but Glorious!

Hey everyone! This week was packed full of miracles. I'll try to get them all.
Peggy had her baptismal interview this week and passed with flying colors! She was then baptized Sunday after church. The whole ward looooves her and it was packed full! It was amazing to see her after and how happy she was and how lifted she felt. Only through Jesus Christ.......:)
She also brought her Less active son Wayde. She is on our team to bring him back to church! She already acted like a member. A new sister in the Ward moved in with like 4 kids. She has no car but needs to get to work 20 minutes away. So Peggy took her each day with her to work. :)
We have a miracle new investigator Patricia. She is a friend of Sister Salani who has been bringing her to church a few weeks. We got to teach her the Restoration this week but most of all help her to know that Heavenly Father Loves Her!!!!!!! That knowledge alone I know would lift her spirits and bless her life so much. She wants to have greater faith, be baptized and be a disciple of Jesus Christ. So excited for her!!
Jasmine, our new investigator is pretty shy. She is a student at the University and Sister Collins brought her to church yesterday. Stayed all three hours and we really hoped she felt the spirit and loved every minute of it! We'll find out soon! But Sister Collins was perfect because she was able to bear testimony of the investigating process and coming to know.
We've been studying the Book of Mormon with the Atonement in mind, as I mentioned last week. But it's amazing how endless it is! How much I am learning each day. I love Revelation in my Personal Studies. But I came across a quote today in an old ensign that I wanted to share.

Elder
Richard G. Scott said: “Just when all seems to be going right, challenges often come in multiple doses applied simultaneously. When those trials are not consequences of your disobedience, they are evidence that the Lord feels you are prepared to grow more (see Proverbs 3:11–12). He therefore gives you experiences that stimulate growth, understanding, and compassion which polish you for your everlasting benefit. To get you from where you are to where He wants you to be requires a lot of stretching, and that generally entails discomfort and pain. This life is an experience in profound trust—trust in Jesus Christ.”1
I definitely know that the Lord gives us things to stretch us and help us grow. It is our choice to draw closer to Him at these times.
Well, I love you all! Keep being amazing!

Hello!

This last week we started the Book of Mormon challenge to read it before Christmas. Started on the 7th of October and will finish the 23rd of December. I will forward the chart if anyone wants to follow along! What a great gift to offer Christ this Christmas! It's only about 7 pages a day. It'll be great to do it together! Not only with me but with 250 other missionaries and their families all doing the same thing every day. :)
This week we saw Audrey. In the past, she hasn't kept commitments at all and we had kind of given up on her. This week we renewed that hope and made sure Audrey knew we were fully invested in her. It turns out she had read four chapters in the Book of Mormon! And we really focused on her coming to church. It was a miracle when sunday morning and her parents didn't want to take her that she overcame anxiety and accepted Sister Morgan to take her. She came! Enjoyed it and connected with a few of the young women.

We also focused on Charlie and Cheryl coming to church. We arranged for them a ride and they came! They really enjoyed it and will hopefully be making that a habit each week. We increased in testimony that as we work really hard helping these people to come, putting 100%, that miracles happen!
Most exciting news!!!! Peggy is getting baptized this Sunday!!! She is so prepared. Loves the gospel. Already acts like a visiting teacher  trying to take care of everyone. We're excited to see her make this important step in the gospel. :)
Happiness. :)
The Lord knows best. He has a plan for each of us. Even if its not the plan that we had for ourselves. He knows better!
Love you!

October is practically over!

Hey everyone. Time is really flying by! Not much time to write but I wanted to share with you a few details of the week!
Peggy is doing really great! Sacrament last week one person taught tithing which was what we were going to teach her the next time. Before we started the lesson, she asked "Now, do i pay on my gross or net income?" Wow!!! She's awesome. She also came to the church to watch general conference with us. Just the 6 missionaries and Peggy but that's alright!
Sticking this in the middle of my letter. But here is a call to repentence for all who love me. :) Each night we arrive home, look on the counter and see if there is any mail for us. Once a week Sister Jensen (who hasn't served here in 3 months) gets a letter. Sister Ostler received one as well (hasn't been here in 6 weeks). Sister hancock gets a few. Sister Roylance.........not one. That is all. The Spirit can help you know what to do next.
We had a first lesson with Jasmine our new investigator. She's college aged and so sweet. She doesn't have much religious background and so we taught a couple basics of God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost we can feel that bears witness of truth. She didn't feel she had ever felt the spirit but as we helped her understand it more she shared that she had had answers to her prayers as she has  been guided in making different decisions in her life. I just know that as she has spiritual experiences for herself, it will bless her life so much! Oh and we taught her how to pray and she prayed at the end of our lesson. Sign of humility and repentance!
This coming Friday we, the missionaries, get to watch Meet the Mormons!!! So exciting because the nearest theatre playing it is appleton WI 5 hours away and that is where everybody has to go...except for us! Hooray!!
Got to ride our friend Olive's handy dandy chair up the stairs. Just like the movie Up!!!
Conference was grand this week! i hope all of you got to watch every bit of it. Because it's inspired and of God.
Love you all! have a great week. :)

Sunshine in My Soul Today!

Hey!
This week was great for different reasons. A bit of a struggle appointment wise. There wasn't much. But! The sun was so glorious all week long. Tender mercy of the Lord! We got to do a lot of walking.
Friday:lesson with Peggy at Sister Morgan's.
Saturday: Peggy came to the taco bar and womens broadcast with sister Morgan.
Sunday: Peggy brought food for the potluck, stayed all three hours and helped set up and take down for potluck. She is already acting like a true member! And she told everyone about her upcoming baptism in October the 18th. Sad they have atemple trip that's kidn of important b/c temple is 8 hours away. (yes, 8 hours away!) That's also on the 18th so they all told her to change it so they can attend her baptism. Okay....the 19th! Yes, Peggy is way excited. :) And she is going to see her mom in march (didn't know if she would before her mom passed) and they can go to the temple together!!! (her mom is a member). Love the gospel!
Womens broadcast amazing! I love President Uchtdorf's analogy of Heavenly Father always pouring the blessings down but because of sin and fear we put up umbrellas that block us from receivign them. So true!!! Key is obedience and faithfulness to his commandments is all. No big deal ;)
Me and sister hancock have decided to cut out carbs....almost completely. Just enough to survive. We gave up ALL our food to the elders: three boxes of favorite cereals, pasta, pancake mix, ramen, jello, etc.
Our new diet will consist of vegetables and protein....and whatever members feed us. Bring it on!
Quote from PMG "For you to grow in the gospel and stay on the path that leads to eternal life, you need to develop a habit of gospel study" Read that today and I'm grateful for a mission that has helped me develop this habit of gospel study. But for all you out there, continue or start to make that a priority. That's a very important way for us to grow and STAY on the path.

Gone fishing

Hey everyone! This will be quick b/c we are going fishing with a less active member Sister Beseler! It'll be grand I'm sure. Even with the 10 dollar fishing licence we have to buy!

Had exchanges this week and Sister Stephanie Harris was my companion for a whole day!!! Best thing ever and such a Tender Mercy of the Lord that we got to be companions even for a short time. We always thought there's a reason we got put in the same mission. Anywho, she's an amazing missionary! I learned lots from her!

This week we taught Peggy the Word of Wisdom, Law of Chastity, and Sabbath Day. She accepted to live it all! She has such great faith and is really getting excited for her baptism. What's amazing is she's been sharing with us specific blessings the Lord has given her recently and we've been able to promise her that those will continue as she follows the Lord and His teachings.

We taught Cheryl and Charlie the first half of the plan of salvation and asked them if they desired to follow all of God's commandments. Cheryl has been baptized, Charlie has not. We extended him the invitation to be baptized and he accepted. They are also getting married next month so we don't have to worry about the Law of Chastity anymore! #miracle They've been giving us excuses of not getting married forever! Saturday they randomly called us over and gave us the news!

Ed, our investigator, has been really busy and then went to spend 5 days with his family. He went from super awesome and progressing to just fascinated by the Book of Mormon and not wanting to make commitments. We are stopping by tonight to find out what happened and to
help him remember the answer he has already received. Family=not always the greatest influence!
Well, hope you all enjoyed the Ogden temple dedication!!!!!!!!! So exciting! Definitely where I want to be married. (yupp, not San Diego anymore)
Enjoy!

Expect Miracles

Hey family and friends!
This week was awesome. Can't quite convey the joy I have while in the service of the Lord. But it is immense! We see how much the Lord loves and cares for his children and prods them along.
So recently it seems we've given all of our people to the Elders to teach. It's all for their better anyway. But the Elders months ago seems to have tracted in our area and now gave us those people's information. We went and met two of them randomly and they both want to learn more! #miracles
One is named Leena who is Native American and lives on the reservation. She is Christian though and we taught her the restoration. We rescheduled for a time when her husband can join us! So great.
Another is Stacey. Randomly we knocked on her door at 845 at night. Baby in hand. We asked her if she would still be interested in learning. "Actually, Yes I would be" Yes!!! I love families.
Peggy is preparing well for her baptism. She's a really neat lady. She thinks of us as her daughters. :) Both her mom and her son are members. But her son is Less active. So sneakily peggy invited us over when her son would be there. We brought an awesome member that helped with family history AND connected really well with her intellectual and critical son. She answered some of his questions about the church. Yes!!!
Had a music night with the ward. More than half of them were nonmembers from the community! But this ward, let me tell ya, is so talented. There were bands from the community but quite a few were from our ward. Like 4 of them were old men but legends within the musical community. Sweet!
So this older lady, Sister Salani has brought her friend Patricia to church the last two weeks. We talked to Sister Salani and I guess Pat wants to meet with us and get baptized....What??!!!! Sweet! But, they are finding a time to meet mid October! No no no. This is not right. We should act now! Ah the impatience of missionaries. :)
Spoke in sacrament on My covenants I made as a missionary. Really helped me reflect on that and now I turn it around to all of You. What did you covenant to do when you were baptized???
Love ya'll!

Greetings from Michigan

This week we were very busy. Which is great! We saw Peggy our investigator twice. She's amazing. Taught her the restoration and plan of salvation and she loved it. Thought it made a lot of sense!. Came to church yesterday and great fellowship thanks to awesome members. She will be coming to the relief society activity on Tuesday as well! And...her son is a less active member. She has developed this plan that we will go see her on friday when he happens to be there. Nice!

We also taught Ed the Word of Wisdom. He struggles with coffee and smoking but has agreed to begin to stop those addictions. We've been having daily contact to continue to support him and told him about fasting for fast sunday! Funny and very real, but when we taught him he was most worried about coffee. Not smoking! Yes, coffee causes REAL addiction.

Audrey we also taught the word of wisdom. Good thing she is 17 and dislikes all of those substances!
So we visited this less active Jack who I saw my first day here. Completely normal. But we got a call from him a few days ago that he's in the psychiatric ward at the hospital and to bring him his Book of Mormon. Oh my goodness! We visited him, found out his issue with alcohol, shared God's love for him, his ability and potential to change, etc. Poor guy. He has the worst conscience when he does wrong and has no hope!. Also, they were giving him a lot of drugs which attributed to the loopy ness. But he was the most normal one there so when we introduced him to another lady we know there, and visited her. He tucked her in and made sure she knew that God loved her and that Jesus loves her. Oh man, what a guy!!!
Hit my One Year anniversary this last week! Weird!
Anyway, love ya'll!
Sister Roylance
Please everybody. Obey the commandments. It leads to happiness I promise! Even better the Lord promises! As seen from my email, disobedience causes unhappiness and lack of blessings. Just sayin :)
p.s. This castle is a real house in a normal neighborhood. Super legit! We definitely knocked on it.

Also, I'm in the next time zone so now two hours ahead of ya'll so don't be procrastinators in email!!! :)
Well, I made it here safely. After 8 hours of travel from kettle to milwaukee. milwaukee to oshkosh. oshkosh to greenbay. Greenbay to marquette. Oh the travels.

Last update with my favorite investigator from Kettle. Marie feels the word of wisdom is inspired and will live it! She is going to post signs all over her mansion saying "Do I really need this cigarette?" We taught her at night and she told us she couldn't do it that night but GIVE HER A FEW DAYS AND SHE'LL HAVE IT. What? Most people want to take months. Marie has faith in days! I know it must be a trying time for her right now, but she wants to make this change for the gospel's sake and I just love her!

So marquette is a bit colder. Borderline jacket weather here since I've been here. It's been really rainy. Also, the basement I live in is freezing!!!!! Ah well, missions toughin you up ;) But we get an awesome 2014 truck so we can make it through the snow. (elders get a car)

Our investigators are awesome! Ed had an experience last week reading the Book of Mormon and got his answer that this is true. We taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ and moved his date to the 27th of September so he can better be prepared. He was called on two jobs very far away on Sunday but his break in between was coming to Sacrament meeting. How faithful he is! He reads every day.

We also saw Audrey. We taught her the gospel of Jesus Christ and sabbath day holy. We committed her to live it.She is a cute 17 year old and I just see so much in her :)

Peggy we taught the Restoration. Her mom is a member in Washington and desires Peggy to learn about the church. Peggy loved the restoration and definitely saw the truth in it, especially the apostasy. She broke down crying a few times and is really struggling in her life. We told her the gospel brings the happiness she desires and the inner peace that only Jesus Christ can give. Excited to help her come closer to Christ!

Hmmm... any funny moments. We write down tender mercies of the Lord each night and a good portion are food. I ask people how long they've lived in Wisconsin and they correct me "Nope! This is Michigan" oops.

Love you all!

Leaving strong in Kettle

This week was rockin!

We had a great restoration lesson with Tom and Kathy our new investigators. We had found them through offering service and they have bounced between churches and do not have a current church. Kathy asked "Where is God now?" Amongst all the craziness in the world. Through the Restoration, we helped her see that God is very active and continues to guide his people and she can know it by reading and praying. They were hesitant to come to church right off the bat so we arranged to have our next lesson tomorrow at the church bringing a member we feel will connect. We are really excited.
Earlier today we had a great lesson with our investigator Marie and she wants to gain a skills set (christlike attributes) including forgiveness. We taught her the gospel of Jesus Christ with the perfect member Sister Jensen. She was moved by it, found greater understanding of the Holy Ghost and accepted to prepare to be baptized September 27th. I truly feel I was here to find Marie and help her along the path of coming closer to Christ.
We also had a lesson with Angela and talked about the difference in belief and faith. Faith is acting and how she's kind of been stuck these past 5 years investigating. Also expressed to her the struggle we see in her reading the Book of Mormon and gave her a hard commitment to read daily, pray, and come to the whole block of church. She came to the whole block yesterday!
Well, I'm off the the UPPER PENINSULA OF MICHIGAN. Here I come Marquette!!! It's going to be a great winter. The first question everyone asks me when I tell them is "Do you have warm enough clothes?" Yupp. Bring it on!! I will also be in contact with Sister Stephanie Harris. She will be my Sister Training Leader! Crazy eh? Get excited for my Yuper accent!
Love ya!

Another week in Paradise!

Hey family!
This last monday we went to Holy Hill which makes a crazy day!
So hilarious experience. So Janet, a less active loves loves loves loves the Osmonds. Like 3 days ago was her 39th anniversary of seeing them for the first time and she still goes to their shows. Knows their family history better than her own. etc. Anyway, we were at holy hill looking at all the cool stuff. Went up to the tower to see the gorgeous view and come back down. On our way back we run into someone with a byu shirt. Guess who we run into??? Another set of missionaries. One being Sister Osmond!!!! She's Jimmy's daughter for those who are familiar. Anyway, at this point it feels like a big inside joke b/c Janet is freaking out inside but she doesn't show anything. I am genius and I arrange for us all to take a picture so Janet can have one on file. Most hilarious experience ever!! All she could say after was "Holy Buckets!!"
We had mission tour on Tuesday and Elder Martino of the Seventy came and was amazing!! It was such a good experience. He taught us so much and made some serious promised blessings to our mission. Ready to step up our game!! Also told us that ipad minis and facebook are coming to our mission the first part of november. Woot woot!
Andy was scheduled to be baptized this saturday. But his dad is against it and him getting baptized. Andy is 50 and his dad is 82 so not sure how much longer we have to wait. But Andy has slight disability. He lives alone, holds a job, and drives own car and such but he's a bit childlike so he would listen to his father's opinion and not want to go against it. So we are praying for his father's heart to be softened!! As well as trying to meet him (he refused once). So hopefully him soon!
Anywho...Great week!
Also miracle. We drove the distance to Sullivan (town of 669) and we were rewarded. Shannon, a former investigator was home!!! She wants to get back in with us along with her mom to learn and be baptized. Yes!

Love ya'll. Sister Roylance

Wisconsin breeze...and mosquitos!

Hello family and dearest friends. This week has been an adventure.
So much is going on.

We've been planning with Brother Bonner, our ward mission leader, to put together a fireside in a member's home for a few select families and investigators and returning less actives. There's a wonderful devotional by Tad Callister that is absolutely inspiring and a testimony builder! It's called "What is the Blueprint of Christ's church?" Amazing! That will be fun to have our friends to attend.

We taught Andy a couple times this week helping him come closer to baptism. He is such a willing spirit and so humble. Excited for baptism and the best commitment keeper ever! He told Sister Bonner yesterday at church that he's been getting pressure from his father concerning his baptism and becoming involved with the church. We are continuing to pray and have faith and help Andy's faith that he can do this. We also look forward to meeting his father too ;)
We taught the lesson in Gospel Principles yesterday. Best lesson ever! It was on Christ's church today. So basically the restoration lesson that we share every day of our missions plus more! It's amazing to see the truths that were restored through the restoration. We have hope in forever families, fulness of doctrine, and necessary authority for the ordinances of salvation. What a blessing to be a part of this great church!

Brought Sister Jensen to our lesson with Marie. We feel it was inspired. They clicked right away and Marie learned so much from Sister Jensen's testimony. We also were touched by Marie's testimony. She has been reading the Book of Mormon so well (like we invite every single person to do) and she does and boy does she feel the power of the Book of Mormon! She told us that what she has read is tattooed on her brain and she cannot deny the truth of it. Yes! Yes! Yes! So she's amazing. We hellped her see that it's the spirit testifying of its truthfulness that she can feel.
Great stuff is happening. Love the work. Never waste a moment. Off to Holy Hill soon!
Love ya'll

July 28, 2014

I'm lacking creativity in my titles.
So this week was great!
We stressed personal prep for baptism with Angela.
=she read! + made the whole block of church a priority!...followed through!

Had a great lesson with Andy and taught Gospel of Jesus Christ with newest member of the ward, little 8 year old Talia!
He accepted to be baptized on August 23rd!
Put it on his calendar ;)
Right after watched baptism of 8 year old Nicholas Huntsman
Perfect Andy could be there!
Next day at church told us his father thought we were a cult.
We will have to pay him a visit.

Had a lesson with our favorite person Marie!
First time in like 12 days.
Read Moroni 7 at her request and learned about the Spirit of Christ that is given to us to judge, and charity is the pure love of Christ and endureth all things.
She's amazing. Excited to continue to help her progress and come closer to Christ.

Pioneer day with the Bonners.
They brought mutual friend of ours, Becca and shared a pioneer story aka most of restoration!
Finna watch legacy with her this Thursday. :)

Love you all!
Sorry for the short statements.
Have a great week!

Trees are changing...?

Hey everyone! This week we did service for our 98 year old friend Loretta. We cleaned her outside windows...didn't think it'd be too bad. Two things, me and sister kilger have a phobia of spiders and there were so many! Think of daddy long legs X3!!! All over. So that's the first issue. But we very hesitantly at times press forward, get on the spiderwebby ladder and clean the windows. Well, the best part is Loretta. she tells us she doesn't want to hang around and tell us what to do so she leaves us to it. However, every corner we turn, we see her smiling through the windows waving at us hello. She probably thought we were scaredy cats. hehe.

We taught Andy this week twice. It was great. For our plan of Salvation lesson we sang I am a child of God. We learned later that he has been workin on that song listening to it on his ipad. Nice! We then teach him the Word of Wisdom. He totally thinks it'd be a good idea to follow the prophet and committed to live the Word of Wisdom. He is such a great person that wants to follow Jesus Christ. Excited for him!!!

We also taught Marie this week the Plan of Salvation. She had read "homework" chapters to prepare for our lesson so sshe had many questions. Great! At the end of our lesson, all of her questions were answered and she totally thinks the Plan of Salvation makes sense! She is so committed and reads the Book of Mormon each day. Love her! My favorite person!

As for the title of my email, weather is great here. Not even a hot summer! For which I am grateful. I did hear rumor of an early fall, like really early. And some of the leaves are already changing!!!! Hopefully we don't have a winter starting in October this year.
Love ya'll!

Humidity has fried my brain.

Ummm... trying to recall this week. Crazyness!!! I tell ya, keeping track of investigators progress can sometimes be a real trial.

Marie, our miracle-super-prepared investigator, we had a lesson with on Monday. First half of the Plan of Salvation. Went well. Really great, accepted everything. Is reading everyday. Well, We have not heard from her since Monday!!! Quite unusual and worrisome. Even her friend Sister Lima no luck. Tried throughout week. Dropped by a note yesterday. Really hoping she is physically okay in that big home of hers in which she is living alone. But......we heard news last night! She has been terribly sick. Bad infection. Didn't want to scare us.. Basically we and she knows that Satan is fighting against her and she needs to fight it. We'll have the Elders give her a priesthood blessing :)
Our investigator Andy. Oh man. He is my favorite person! We teach him on Saturday. Show up, he meets us at the door with this white baseball hat on that says MORMON. Oh yes. We asked where he got it, he ordered it online. Nice! We read with him in the Book of Mormon. Downloaded ldsgospel library for him. Really loved that! Then he came to church sunday. Had lesson on baptism in priesthood. Asked Elders how we are baptized and we showed him the font. Exciting!
Played croquet and bacci ball last p-day. Bad luck. I happened to break the croquet stick and Elder Steiner broke the bacci ball. How do you break a bacci ball in half??!
Also, we walked the Oconomowoc Lake Walk. It's official. Hundreds walk each day. Great way to contact! Miracle actually. We met the son of a potential investigator. The PI told us he wasn't interested so no reason to go back. So...Heavenly Father placed the son in our path and he was actually looking to get a Book of Mormon. Hey look! We happen to have had one :) Passed this beautiful sunset on the way home. Ahhh...Gotta love it!

Safe at last...

This week has been a little worrisome with not knowing whether I would be leaving or staying in Kettle Moraine.... I am staying!!! So happy :)
So this week, we taught our dearest friend Marie the Restoration. She is continually impressed with the church and the members of the ward. She is so sincere in wanting to know if this is true and doing what she needs to to know! She loves how we ACT  on what we believe. Elder Holland said this in a conference the year I was born. “they which preach the gospel should live … the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:14). Beyond my words and teachings and spoken witness
, my life must be part of that testimony of Jesus. My very being should reflect the divinity of this work. I could not bear it if anything I might ever say or do would in any way diminish your faith in Christ, your love for this church" Love it!!!
We also taught Andy this week with the perfect member! We reviewed the Restoration with an amazing object lesson that shows perfectly what Christ's church looked like, how it was lost, and is now restored! He prayed at the end of our lesson=favorite part of missionary work. His prayer was so humble and sincere and he asked to know if what we taught was true! After the prayer he asked how he could receive a "membership number" essentially asking how he can become a member. We told him through baptism! He wants to be a member :) We Love Andy :) Such a nice guy.
Met a less active member Donna this week. She is so kind and, as we found out, sensitive spiritually. She can really feel the power of the scriptures. We asked if she had read the Book of Mormon. "Oh yes. Once I open the Book of Mormon comes the spirit. My testimony's just on the next page." Wow. She also expressed her faith in the priesthood and power of prayer. She has not read the Book of Mormon in some years probably because she knows what will happen once she does. The Spirit will come and flood her life once again and she'll come back!!! hehe. That's our plan. So she accepted our invitation to come and read with her :)
Had some revelation this week while journal writing/reading the Book of Mormon. hint hint. I feel I can relate to Alma who wishes he could just declare repentance with a trump as an angel! He just wants to share with everyone but he realized there's a principle of agency in people that we need to respect. He discovered he needs to be content with what the Lord had allotted him and why would he desire more than to perform the work to which he had been called.
We continue to be blessed in this area to be able to help our new friends Marie, Andy, Angela, and many other wonderful people to come closer to Christ and for the rest of the time I am content in working hard and meeting as many people as I can to plant seeds for others to come along and find!
I'm so grateful to be here. To be a part of this great and glorious work. I have such a testimony of the gospel and can feel the power of it each day!
I love you all and hope you can feel the truth of this gospel too!

July 7th, 2014

Oh dear. So much goodness!!!! I can't even express. Let me just say that.
Marie is our new investigator and top dog. She was our most promising before she was even an official investigator. Thursday we spent some time with her smoking meats, baked a cake, and made a salad for the ward 4th party. Friday she got sick and couldn't even make it! Sunday she came to church!!!! With her friend Sister Lima. Well, all week we have been getting closer, preparing to ask Marie if we can teach her. Well, we did and boy she is sooo ready! This lady is wealthy beyond measure but that is not what is important to her. I talked to her on the phone yesterday and she told us that all she wants, all she wants, is to come closer to her Savior Jesus Christ. She wants to learn about forgiveness and about the Holy Ghost. She sees this church and sees goodness. She sees us sisters and sees purity and light of Christ. She wants that! She told me "If this church represents what I think it represents, then I want in" She then asked if there's a reading assignment that can help her to prepare for Tuesday when we teach her.
Ummmm.... prepared much? Ahhhh!!!!!!! So excited to teach her!
Andy is another amazing person. He has been reading the Book of Mormon everyday. Came to the 4th of july party and to church. He has such a pure heart. We will teach him Saturday. Cutest thing. Andy is a bit childlike, and he came to the 4th party with a nametag on his shirt so he could introduce himself to all those he didn't know. So cute!
Third miracle of the week. I wrote Bryan (investigator/recent convert from Stevens Point) and he wrote back!!!!!!! He called me the "original missionary" haha. Also expressed some things he has learned and that he bore his testimony in church yesterday! Can't wait to go back and visit one day. :)
All in all, great week. Not the best numbers wise (missionaries will understand that) but miracles!
Love you all!
Have a wonderful week and always remember to rely on our Savior each and every day!

Miracles!

Okay this will be quick...maybe! just a few miracles happened this week. All of them (that I can think of) being yesterday!
So, we helped a Sister Lima in staging her home to sell and she sent us over to her friend Marie who is also selling her home for 4 million dollars! Anywho, Marie is super nice and the first question she asks is "what time is church? I will call Sister LIma for a ride" Ookay... sweet! Well, she came on Sunday and it happened to be perfect. 1. because I was speaking on the Atonement of Jesus Christ but 2. is more important. Marie had a daughter die 3 years ago in a car crash and hit a tree. Well, brother burniston spoke on what was supposed to be obedience but that was not what came out! He told a story of a young kid who just graduated high school and then crashed and hit a tree on Friday and died. :( So sad but then he bore testimony of the knowledge he had that we can see our families again and we can be together forever!!! It was perfect for Marie and I believe the Lord helped her to be there that week.
Do you remember in the Best Two Years when Elder Rogers is teaching the lesson and he says "This is why I'm here". Well, let me tell you I had that moment yesterday! We were teaching Angela who just really needs to be baptized already! Her husband is waiting and waiting. So we taught baptism being the gate to the temple, used pictures and everything and brought a wonderful couple with us. As I was testifying that I know they can be sealed for time and all eternity, I teared up, choked and said "this is why i'm here" to help families be sealed together forever. After that there was no way she could say no to being baptized! So she accepted August 9th :)
also, our new investigator Andy showed up at 11:56 right before church ended at 12. Surprise! We had no idea he would show. We didn't even happen to invite him! but he wanted to check it out. So we gave him a church tour.
#miracles.
Can't remember much else. All is well in Wisconsin!
Love ya'll. Have a happy 4th!

June 23. Where has June gone??

The past few months we have been working with a less active Janet. We've gotten really close. We love her. She loves us! And we've been doing a lot of Family history together. Thursday we shared a lesson on Mosiah 24 and invited her to read the Book of Mormon each day for 10 minutes. She is pretty excited because she got the new app on her tablet! Exciting part is her non member son we have been working on too. We've been inviting him for prayers at the end. This time we invited him to the lesson and next time we will give him a Book of Mormon! Can't wait to see them each week at  church :)

Had a good lesson with Angela. Brought Sister Ellsworth and we taught the first part of the Plan of Salvation. We were all edified. Sister Ellsworth shared her conversion and her increased understanding and bore her testimony. Although we talked about premortal life, the creation, adam and eve, and life on earth what the underlying message was GOD LOVES ALL OF HIS CHILDREN AND WANTS THEM HOME. He truly loves each of us and has given us this Glorious gospel to help us Now and in the eternities. What a blessing!!

Also we saw Kathy who is a new investigator. She is a sweetheart. She needs the plan of salvation. She lost a daughter young and is divorced. Very lonely but has great faith and is enduring! Well, she told us at the end of our lesson that she will read the Book of Mormon, get to know us more, and come to church with us. Perfect!!!

Disappointment this week. Today we were supposed to be in Milwaukee taking a 98 year old lady!!! She lived there and hasn't seen it in 50 years and wishes to go. No kids or husband. We told her we'd take her and got permission! Til last night we got a call and she had family visit and made her cancel :( Sad. They sure haven't taken her.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Hello All

This week I got to go to Milwaukee on exchanges. It was so fun to be a Young Single Adult missionary for a day. Got to drive through the ghetto, eat kopps, and teach some pretty awesome guys! Hope I can serve there sometime :)

Had a miracle with Janet Tannis who is a less active. We were helping her with her family history and we randomly decided to search for her biological father (who she cares nothing about). Found him! and found his siblings and Father! She even through her dislike, was quite amazed with our findings and even volunteered "I think I'll see you at church on Sunday" #miracle
We had a first lesson with Genny who the Elders found. We brought Sister Cantrell who recently returned to full activity and she just had such a testimony!! She was so happy for the experience and she was perfect for our investigators. Genny doesn't feel having a prophet today is biblical. Uhhh...it actually is very biblical!!! But she is reading the Book of Mormon and praying about it :)

We have been challenged by our mission president to give a Book of Mormon every day to someone that will read it. I've been amazed at the opportunities that we are given to reach this goal. We have found two additional people to teach thru it and it's through the best way possible....the Book of Mormon!

Great week, and excited for this next one. Love ya'll!

Faith Proceeds the Miracle!

Lots happened this week. Lost a companion. :( met lots of people. many cancelled appts. persecuted a bit. Saw miracles!

We met with Tasha on Tuesday for Sister Reed to say goodbye. Tasha told us "You know its weird. I met missionaries a year ago and never saw them again. Then I pray to come closer to God and you show up the next day." Yupp! Increase testimony of the Lord truly leading our paths. So that was great.

Same day we were persecuted a bit. Not that it really got us down but more pumped us up! We met a crazy who told us we were of the devil and to take our name tags off. We met a man that said we were young and would one day learn Joseph was a hoax. we met a pastor who said we didn't believe in the Messiah. We went on as silent giants... as we continued we saw the miracles.

They came! Sunday was a great day. Tasha came to church for the first time and brought her boyfriend. Exciting! A less active we've been working with who hasn't been to church in years came with her active sister who was visiting! Then...... Angela, the 7 year investigator missed sacrament but showed up to relief society. She came without her less active member husband=unheard of. She came to relief society=unheard of! We were happy to see the fruits of our efforts and the Lord's ability to make miracles happen.

Serving the Lord is never boring! Couldn't ask for anything better.
Hope ya'll have a great week!

Hey ya'll! Crazy how time flies but I can't believe it's been 9 months Wednesday that I became one of the Lord's missionaries! Also falls on a day of transfer which sadly means Sister Reed is leaving our companionship :( and I will be a normal twosome with Sister Kilger :)

Wednesday we had our last district meeting with our lovely district. Picture is attached. I gave a training (asked last minute) on obedience. One of my favorite scriptures is Mosiah 2:41 "consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God." Blessed in all things! And if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven. What more motivation to be obedient in all things!

Friday we went to the ward spaghetti dinner plus auction for the young women to go to girls camp. A member gave us 40 dollars and we paired up with the Wrights with their 34 plus Sister Weston's 6 and won the cherry cheesecake for $80! Can you believe it? Plus we received like two other cakes that people bought and didn't want to eat. Total of $170 of cake. Puts on a bit of pressure to eat every bit! ;)

Saturday was spiritual violence day. We talked to a bunch of people! One girl we met was 17 and happened to be friends with recent convert Olivia who is just the best! So we are excited to go back and teach her with Olivia tomorrow!
We also talked to a lady named Lindy. She is so sweet. Going in for a procedure today and said we came at the perfect time. She needed a spiritual boost. We gave her a Book of Mormon and we are excited to go back as she is well enough.

Our investigator Angela surprised us and came to church all by herself!!! Her husband (less active member) was called into work but Angela really likes fast and testimony meeting so she came anyways!

Miracles. Excited for this next transfer in Kettle Moraine!
