One moment of Bliss
Lindsey Roylance to you

Hey ya'll. This week we had zone conference which was amazing. There was a huge focus on prayer and the power of it. We've been working on helping our investigators see the importance of praying to Know rather than just believe. They can only receive an answer if they first ask the question! William, a recent convert, is a genius. He was a guest speaker at the meeting and he brought a friend with him... Of course she got special treatment. She got a church tour from the mission president himself. We will hopefully be teaching her... William says she's interested!

We had one moment of bliss this week. That was a 41 degree temperature. We of course pulled out the lawn chairs and soaked it all in for a few minutes at lunch. Wonderful! Of course that didn't last long as its back to the teens.

We had an unfortunately fortunate experience to teach a guy named Chris this week. We were teaching Tang, a recent convert and we went over to his apartment to teach him. Unfortunately for him, he has back pain and 30 minutes before we came he had to go to the doctor. We showed up unknowingly with a member. He wasn't there, but Chris his roommate wanted to learn! We'd think it was a set up by Tang if it weren't for his back.... :)

We saw Caryl again this week. She had been offended years ago and she used to be really active. She feels slightly abandoned by God and this week as we read Enos and talked about prayer and the relationship we can gain with God, and she has a desire to be motivated in gaining that again. Plus she says she will come to church in a week or two after she sews herself a dress! Wonderful!

Hope you like the pictures! :)

Ribs and Red Velvet Cake
Lindsey Roylance to you +

New food of the week: I ate baklava and a gyro. Super yummy.

So our investigator Bryan came to institute and we were talking about uplifting things to fill our life with to bring the Spirit into our lives. Bryan said, "Ya, I like to listen to good Christian bands like Creed and POD that are so spiritual!" Oh dear. Um..... Yikes. However Bryan is more excited for his baptism. Just focusing on him receiving his answer to his prayers.
Valentines Day we did a bunch of service. For two hours we cleaned a Less actives home who has to giant huskies (polar bear size) who shed like crazy. The house hadn't been cleaned in like five years. After decluttering, sweeping, mopping, dusting, we made a dent :) All for the sake of gaining trust and loving this less active member :) It was good tho
This week we visited with three less actives who were offended. Ridiculous but real. I recently read Bednar's "Be not offended" talk that teaches amazing principles on taking offense and helping the "offended" Is it really worth losing blessings of the gospel? Losing opportunity to take the Sacrament? Losing guidance of the Holy Ghost? I think not. We have this amazing opportunity to work with these less actives and help them see the blessings of what they once had.

Yesterday, we had dinner with the Munk family. They had the Kufahls over for dinner. Sister Kufahl is a less active coming back. Her husband is nonmember. Her 11 year old son, Skyler, wants to be baptized. We began to teach him yesterday the Restoration and the importance of the Book of Mormon in coming to know. We extended the invitation to read to the husband as well, although he is just sitting in to learn more about the church. He accepted the invitation. We will continue to teach Skyler inside the Munk's home. This is an amazing set up because the Spirit is felt so much inside their home.
Saturday, Sister Giese (best cook ever) fed us ribs, biscuits, potato salad, red velvet cake, and cherry pie. All homemade. Yummy!!!
Love you all!

February 10!!!!
Lindsey Roylance to you

Hey everyone. This week we had an interesting experience with Barb. She has been super sick and in pain so much that she can never make it to church. She was given a blessing this week before our lesson. After we proceeded to teach her with an amazing member Sister Thompson. After the lesson, her husband came out and plopped down with two beers. We asked if he had any questions.
He told us of his girlfriend in the past who decided to get baptized a second time and that was the last time he ever dated her. Yikes!! Complication. But then he told us that all we need is the bible. Sis Thompson spoke up "How do you know that's all we need?" Love members! Then he said he will have to "investigate" it himself but gave us permission to continue to teach his wife. Good start.

We found a Less active while tracting awhile ago. This week we went to visit her and she told us how she used to be super active in relief society but when the church put in money for proposition 8, she lost faith in the prophet. She was offended. We found her and hope to be able to help her in the future. Now all we can do is to serve her and gain her trust.

Bryan is doing good. Brought some great members this week and he can finally recognize the Spirit!

Well, gotta go. Word of advice: Do not eat Pigs feet. Nasty!!!! Somehow managed to get it twice in one week. What is it with the people of Wisconsin?

February 3rd!!
Lindsey Roylance to you

Can't believe it's already February and sadly you are all suffering from drought! Crazy stuff. You can take our 4 feet of snow. Who said Wisconsin didn't have mountains? Guess it's the worst winter in 75 years or somethin? Can't quite remember what above zero feels like. Plus our car died the other day from the cold.
This week we really wanted Barb to come to church so we had our lesson on the Sabbath Day Holy at the church. We invited an amazing member and we gave her a church tour and then proceeded with the lesson. The Spirit was truly there and she commented she feels more comfortable coming to church now. She also told us of how she needs to read everyday or she feels something's missing. She also mentioned how with the shows she watches she now notices the profanity in them. Wonderful! It made me think of Mosiah 5:2 in which their hearts were changed. Unfortunately, Barb frequently has health issues and had a bad sinus infection yesterday and couldn't make church again!
We celebrated Bryan's birthday this week with him. Still working on building his testimony. He's determined to be baptized outside..... I don't think so! Still trying to get that out of his head.
Sorry this is quick!
Have a great week!
