Lindsey Roylance

Hey everyone! This week was full of miracles and adventure.

This week we had a new investigator Tasha who we taught twice this week! She is so amazing. A young mother of a 6 year old at 25 and single. She wants to come closer to God and feel of His strength. She has also been to other churches and can't feel the Spirit there. Can't wait til she comes to the true church!
On Wednesday we worked really hard also, and had a lesson with the Mifflins, a part-member family, and just yesterday we saw Brother Mifflin in the Memorial Day parade holding a rifle and he saluted us, it was awesome.
On Thursday we did a lot of service for people and got sunburned!! It's slowly turning into a nice tan.
Something unique about our companionship is that we somehow have the funniest moments. We started something called the "SlimNever" diet... aka trying to eat healthy but sometimes giving up... okay every day.
With Angela we are moving slowly but surely. We are currently helping her see that we are not changing her beliefs but just adding to what she already knows.....as talked about in the Articles of Faith using both the Bible and the Book of Mormon to teach the same principle. Amazing thing is, her concerns can be answered through these simple articles of Faith!
We visited a less active Janet Tannis. She is an Osmond convert and hasn't come in years because her husband/kids are not members. Sad. but we have been discussing on how she can help her family to the gospel. It all starts with her! She really wants her husband to convert, and we are going to help her to start coming to church/read the Book of Mormon so she can be the example.

Well this email is scattered and short and not very descriptive. Sorry! I love you all. See you next week!

Hey ya'll! May 19, 2014

So things have been really crazy here. Sorry no email last week. I didn't get to email because my companion was sick :(
Anyway! Great experiences the last couple weeks!
One is our investigator Gary. Not sure if you have heard of him. We met him and gave him a restoration pamphlet and we come back to teach him and his first question is "Can i have a copy of the Book of Mormon?" Oh man! He just wanted to read it!
We also have Archie from inercity milwaukee. He is pretty legit. His father, a preacher taught him many of our standards. No swearing. Chastity. and such. We met him at Culvers Frozen Custard one day and that's where we taught him the next time! Miracles in Culvers. He brought his friend Derell too. Oh man, they have such faith!

Kettle has really blown up the last couple of weeks. We have a pretty big teaching pool which is amazing. So nice to be busy with so many appts! Also hard to handle everything because there is never enough time. I like this :)
Started a slimfast smoothie diet with my comps this week. We will eat that and only that except for when members feed us because we can't control that. Oh yeah!

Went to the temple this last friday. What an amazing experience this was! Might've been one of the best. As a missionary its such a unique opportunity and I was blessed to be in an area within distance. Beautiful chicago!

Last night funny experience. Our new friend/neighbor downstairs is named Lindsay (another one for ya) and we say hi and wave whenever we pass her outside. Well, she knocked on our door last night at like 8:30 with a bottle of wine in hand. Asked us if we wanted to join her drinking wine! Umm.....no thanks! But she was so confused about why we didn't and was very persistent. We joined her with our WATER  and then with her friend jenny we talked about who we are, why we dont' drink, and about our missions. Next time we will teach them the restoration!

Have a great week! Oh! one more miracle! A recently reactivated member Sister Cantrell out of nowhere called us saturday and told us that if there were any investigators she could befriend she would love to and also that her home is open whenever we want to teach investigators lessons there. Whoa!!!! She is also going to the temple soon! Amazing :)

Adventures in Wiscaansin...

Oh boy. What a loaded week!!! So many crazy adventures goin on in Kettle. Making the adjustment in my new trio is fabulous and the work is sure progressing here!
Last P-day we went to St. Vincent dePaul and it was probably the greatest experience of my life! I bought 6 shirts and 2 skirts all for $10. Thrift shoppin is my new thing.
So... Tuesday We met a man named Gary in the mornin. Gary is the sweetest old man you ever knew. Has a beard and about half his teeth but loooves Jesus Christ. We are going to teach him about the Restored Gospel :)
Tracked down a lady named Shannon and finally got to meet her this week. After 6 weeks! I just love her already and it was definitely worth the 20 minute drive out to her house.
Wednesday, we felt to go see Suzette, our investigator and we caught her as she was moving into her new apartment. We of course offered to help. She is a little bit of a hoarder but who isn't in Wisconsin? She then gave us an extra bike of hers!...after a few subtle comments of how I loove to bike! Success. Had to ride it home tho. My comps next to me riding in the car bumpin to Joseph and the Technicolored Dreamcoat and me huffin and puffin it on a bike. Incredible!

We taught Angela this week. Taught her about faith and repentance with the Wrights. They are the best members to have in a lesson! Brother Wright did the inviting her to church. Plus she received a priesthood blessing. 3 days later, we realized we forgot to remind her about church. Panic! Then i learned a lesson about trusting my investigators. "If I can't trust them, I can't share my heart with them" Sacrament meeting 12 minutes in...still not there. Then midway thru sacrament song, they came! Miracle!!

Thursday, we cleaned a hoarders room (7 & 8 year olds). Oh boy! 3 feet high, cannot see the floor of clothes and toys! We sure did some damage to that mess. Angie was sooo thankful to us and is totally open to coming to church and us coming back to "chat" about the gospel. :)

Saturday was crazy! We bought chalk and drew the Plan of Salvation at two different parks. There we met some college guys. They were cool. Invited us to a party. Thinkin that's not allowed. Then in the same day  We were going to meet a former investigator PJ. His neighbors, called us over. Their names are Jeff and Jeremy. They are playing a game called beersby- frisbee with beer. Have to throw/catch frisbee one handed while the other hand holds the drink. There's a pole you try to hit and rules for days. Pretty much they taught us how to play... except Jeff could barely talk. It was grand. Life of a missionary.... ;)

Sunday we had miracles. First, I received back the 83 names of my ancestors I gave to the youth to do baptisms...and they were ALL done!!!! Best day ever! Then we had a lesson with Craig and we invited Bro. Stoltenburg. Didn't realize that was an inspired match until we were in the lesson. Bro S is a 5 year convert and has pretty much had the same experiences with religion as Craig. Grateful for the spirit. :)

Been a great week!!! Didn't get any mail. hint hint. Love to hear from ya'll!
